MAY 2005 - OVW TV SHOWCASE VOL. 71 May 2005 will mark one of the most unusual periods in Ohio Valley Wrestling history with the mysterious disappearance of OVW Matchmaker and Commentator Jim Cornette. But the show must go on, and Al Snow steps into the role as the month of May focuses on the vacated OVW TV Championship as Brent Albright pursues his career as OVW Heavyweight Champion. And while this is all going on, the start of the Six Flags Summer Sizzler Series looms on the horizon. Watch to see how the drama unfolds on this edition of OVW Home Videos! May 7th - M-N-M make an appearance as the new WWE Tag Team Champions and with the assistance of a steel chair, putting Mac Johnson out of commission again! Rey Mysterio is announced to be the first big WWE superstar at the June 3rd Six Flags show. Blaster Lashley makes easy pickings of newcomer Chet The Jet, and Seth Skyfire takes on both Blonde Bombers in a handicap match since his partner could not join him, but ends up getting some much needed help from Inferno! May 14th - This show is in total chaos with the sudden and mysterious absence of OVW Matchmaker Jim Cornette. With no one to make the matches, Al Snow stepped in to take over announcing duties and conducted an interview with legendary manager Bobby "The Brain" Heenan... until Kenny Bolin shows up to muck up the works! A photo opportunity with M-N-M turns bad when an OVW security guard nearly gets his ankle broken from The Snapshot but is saved thanks to Seth Skyfire. And Brent Albright has his final match as Television Champion against Aaron Stevens, but Simon from WWE has a few things to say about it! May 21st - Jim Cornette releases a statement that is read on air concerning his disappearance that raises more questions than it answers. Meanwhile a tournament is held to fill the OVW TV Championship vacated by Brent Albright. Alexis Laree easily defeats Mike Mondo in the first match thanks to some softening up by Albright! Seven handily wins the second match against Osama, and newcomver Paul Birchell just wins his match against Nick Nemeth. The Aaron Stevens/Danny Inferno saga continues as they face one another in the tournament! And Tank Toland has to face Matt Capotelli alone as Chad and Jillian Hall are forced to stay in the back by Al Snow! May 28th - The final three matches are held in Round One of the TV Title Tournament. But Round Two is what gets everyone's attention as Alexis Laree has to face Blaster Lashley! Meanwhile, Elijah Burke and OVW Champion Brent Albright have a tense moment leading up to their upcoming showdown at Six Flags on June 3rd. And Johnny Jeter has to be held back by Matt Capotelli from attacking the Tolands for revenge against a dirty trick they pulled two weeks back! Tensions are tight as the stage is set for the Six Flags 2005 Summer Sizzler Series!
